For a lot of you, you may have some question marks over the costs of installing and running a home charger. Lucky for you, we know a thing or two about home charging.

Our handy guide will take you through what’s involved.

It’s all about convenience

With fuel prices rising, there’s never been a better time to ditch the petrol station and switch to an electric vehicle.

Rising costs aside, who could forget the fuel shortage in September 2021? Queues outside garages stretched for as far as the eye could see. Who has time for that?

Using your home EV charger, you can juice up your car without leaving the house. Your downtime becomes your car’s charging time. That’s the kind of convenience we can get on board with.

Egg’s EV charger comes with a simple, easy-to-use app. Set up smart charging schedules to suit your lifestyle. Save money by using your charger when energy is cheaper and greener.

You need a reliable set-up

Getting ready for installation day

Getting set up for installation couldn’t be easier. You’ll be ready for our experts to get you up and running in just a few simple steps.

We first need to ask you a few quick questions to check your eligibility. These are simple checks and only take a couple of minutes.

The best part? The cost of your charger and its standard installation can be spread across 3 years for £24 monthly payments with 0% APR (subject to credit check). And even better? Your installation costs are included within this price!

Why use a pay monthly plan?

Let’s face it. Money makes the world go round. And the average cost of installing an at-home charge point is around £1,000.

At Egg, we understand that one of the main barriers to switching to an EV is these high initial costs. There’s also the worry about paying for costly repairs if things go wrong.

You don’t have to worry about pricey services with our EV Charger Plan. You know exactly what you’re paying for (your charger, installation and service) on a monthly basis. It's no different to your phone contract – it’s just to charge your car instead.

As long as you’re signed up to our Charger Plan, you’re covered by our repair-or-replace promise in our £3/month service subscription, Egg Plus. If there’s ever an issue we can’t fix, we’ll replace your equipment to get you back up and running in no time - at no extra cost. Even after your 3-year contract finishes, we don't have to say goodbye. For just £3 a month, you'll still be covered by Egg Plus.

How much does it cost?

We’ll set you up with everything you need to start charging your EV at home from just £24 per month (subject to credit check) or £864 upfront. This covers the cost of your quality home EV charger and its installation, along with an additional £3/month subscription to our repair-or-replace promise, Egg Plus.

At Egg, we work hard to make EV at-home charging available to all. We provide you with the best equipment for an affordable monthly fee. Cracking clean energy should be for everyone. Learn more about our EV Charger Plan.

What about charge time?

The charge time of your EV will depend on the size of the car’s battery and the speed of the particular charging station. For example, rapid charge points (often found at service stations for example) can charge some EVs in as little as 45 minutes.

Our premium EV charger has an output of 7.4kW. The average EV will go from empty to full charge in around six and a half hours, perfect for overnight charging.

Will I need a unique charger for my car?

The brilliant thing about our devices is that they’re compatible with every EV that’s currently on the market. You don’t have to worry about having a vehicle-specific charger.

On installation day, our friendly team will be there to guide you through setting up your charger and our handy smart app. You’ll be on the go before you know it.
